ESL Fun Class Conversation Worksheets

Conversation Worksheet-An Original by ESL Fun Class

Description:

This conversation worksheet has a cover page with the setting and characters, a transcript, a worksheet, and an answer key. The transcript has numbered exchanges between the characters. The worksheet has 5 pictures to define, 5 multiple choice questions, 5 fill in the blank sentences, and 5 correct or incorrect statements. The answer sheet is on the last page.

Use Suggestions:

Print the worksheet. You can print all three student pages or just the worksheet. To save on printing costs, I suggest you only print the worksheet. You can project the cover page and the transcript if you wish.

Have students read the conversation, for the first time, out loud as a group, without the worksheet, instructing students to jot down any words they don’t recognize. When the reading is finished answer any questions students have about what they wrote down.

Next, hand out the worksheet. You can choose to hand out or display the transcript along with the worksheet, depending on whether you want your students to answer the questions from memory, or with some help.

Have students answer all of the questions, then either read the conversation out loud again or silently. Students can check their work and make any corrections necessary.

When finished, the teacher can read the correct answers so students can make any final corrections to their work.

Read the conversation one last time so the students can read and listen with the correct understanding.

Notes and Tips:

This worksheet can be purchased, as a bundle, with the complimentary video, for $3 more. Be sure to download the worksheet preview and zoom in to see what you will be getting before you buy it.

You can upload the worksheet to your platform for homework. Make sure your students both have and know how to use a PDF editing program or convert the document into a Google Doc, make boxes for the fill in the blank lines, and then share it with them.

The worksheets are great to fill in extra time or to give to substitute teachers.

We use many of the same target words and phrases on all of the resources created for one topic. This is done intentionally to reinforce the basic vocabulary and grammar structures for each topic. Therefore, you can use our worksheets, board and card games, exams, and other PowerPoint games and presentations as complementary activities for this video worksheet set.

Conversation Order Cards-An Original by ESL Fun Class

Description:

This conversation order game has a cover page with the setting and characters, up to 48 conversation cards with pictures on the front and order number on the back. Suggested use directions are on the last page.

Use Suggestions:

Print the cards on your double-sided printer setting.

Put all of the cards face up on a large table or stick them to your classroom board or a wall with “Blu Tac”.

Students can work as a group and take turns until the order is reached or they can work in teams to create more competition.

If students are working as one large group, each student will get a turn, to place one card, in what they think is the correct order. Students can change the placement of another student’s card if they choose to. Play continues until all of the students are satisfied that the cards are in the right order.

The teacher will need to print a second set of cards, without cutting them up, to use as an answer key, or keep the PDF open where the students can’t see the answers. When students are finished, the teacher can reveal which cards, if any, are out of order, and tell students to try again. Play continues until all of the cards are in the correct order or time is up.

If you play with teams, the teacher will need to keep track of how many correct and incorrect placements each team gets. This could get challenging, so the teacher must pay close attention to each and every move. The team with the most correct placements, minus the incorrect placements, wins.

When finished, the students can take turns reading the entire conversation out loud.

Notes and Tips:

The matching worksheet, video, reading booklet, comic book, and PowerPoint can be purchased separately or as a bundle.
